Inspired by the Ark-like scale of the building, Irving House is decorated with a series of works from a number of independent artists, celebrating animals of the water, earth, sky and heavens.

Cambridge Mass hotel history / art

Irving House has served the traveling public since 1945. In its early years, it was the annex of The Kirkland Inn with offices in the home of the Misho family who operated the inn until 1990. When we purchased the house at 24 Irving Street that July, it was clear from the guests staying there that the Mishos’ warm hospitality was well known and kindly remembered. On their strong foundation, we have been making improvements to the house and our operations in response to the helpful comments of our guests ever since.

In 2009 we began the comprehensive renovation of the house, updating the rooms, improving technologies and expanding amenities. Whether a long-time guest, or visiting us for the first time, we hope you enjoy a comfortable and relaxing stay.
